Actually I just found out, that there is a rightclick menu on files in
$HOME - but not on files or folders in submenus or on the empty space.

  Miller-Column-View lacking rightclick menu on files and empty spaces.

Bug description:
  When using the Miller Column View in marlin, there is no way to create
  a new file or perform the expected right-click funktionality on a file
  because no rightclick-menu is provided on files and empty spaces on
  the view.

  Oops - forgot to mention that this is on oneiric + elementary-dev ppa and in a pantheon session.
