Re: [Question #170509]: setting up a home network in ubuntu 11.10
Question #170509 on samba in Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+question/170509
Eliah Kagan proposed the following answer:
"but isn't samba only for sharing with Windows?"
No. You can also use it to share files and printers between Ubuntu
systems, and between and Ubuntu system and a Mac OS X system, and
between an Ubuntu system and a Fedora system, and so forth. It is the
most common way to share files between machines on a home or small
office LAN, with Ubuntu.
And Samba supports workgroups, even when you are sharing between all
non-Windows systems.
The documentation explains how to set it up. If you have questions,
please feel free to post another reply.
