actionparsnip proposed the following answer:
The accounts you connect to saba are not the system accounts, they are
separate and are managed with smbpasswd, you added a samba password for
the same name as the user that ran it, when challenged for a password,
use the password you set. Obviously it's easier to use the same password
as the user logs in with
