Recently I've tried to check winbind behavior at Ubuntu 12.04. Everything was OK!!!
Also I've found how to fix the problem with login time out at ubuntu 10.04.

For this you should comment the next line in /etc/pam.d/common-auth

auth       optional    pam_smbpass.so migrate

After system reboot login works fine without any time out.
