I have even tried this
sudo ufw disable     that disables the firewall and that does NOT fix it 

have 17 computers on the lan all dual boot, in a ubuntu only invironment
no two computers can share files-they just won't communicate somehow
it's a security protical somewhere that's stopping it (I think it is
anyhow)

any suggestions?
