[Question #201862]: Zyxel NAS only reachable via IP address

New question #201862 on samba in Ubuntu:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+question/201862

I have linked to my NAS shares via Name since Ubuntu 8.04 but suddenly under 12.04 (but not from the intro of 12.04) the sgares are no longer reachable, except via the static IP address 192.168.1.36.

1. smbtree shows NSA-220 and it is in same workgroup

2. appropriate smb.conf from testparm returns as follows:

[global]
	workgroup = JAHN64
	server string = %h server (Samba, Ubuntu)
	pam password change = Yes
	syslog = 0
	log file = /var/log/samba/log.%m
	max log size = 1000
	name resolve order = lmhosts host wins bcast
	wins server = 192.168.1.36
	usershare allow guests = Yes
	panic action = /usr/share/samba/panic-action %d
	idmap config * : backend = tdb

3. ping 192.168.1.36 is OK, ping NSA-220 doesn't return anything

4. samba logs report:

  smbd version 3.6.3 started.

Anybody spot anything?
