Then that's probably why. To get from 10.10 to 12.04 you needed to first
upgrade to 11.04 then to 11.10 then finally to 12.04. The ONLY time you
can leapfrog releases is if it is LTS to LTS so 10.04 to 12.04 is ok.

I suggest you reinstall
