actionparsnip proposed the following answer:
You could add:

valid users = eddie

To each share definition in /etc/samba/smb.conf save the new file and
run:

sudo smbpasswd -a eddie

You can now authenticate as eddie with the password you set. Your OSes
can remember the credential so access will be seamless.
