Re: [Question #239884]: 403 after new DocumentRoot in ubuntu 13.10 server

Question #239884 on apache2 in Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apache2/+question/239884

    Status: Open => Answered

actionparsnip proposed the following answer:
Because the service is running as a user that doesn't have read access
to your home folder.

Look at the access on /var/www then look at the /home/me/www

It will be completely different. If you copy the access rights over to
the folder then it will work as the service will have access.

This is the same in all OSes. System Administrators have service
accounts and grant them access across domains so that it can get access
to what it needs.

Quite simple to diagnose too with the system reporting 'access denied"
:-)
