[Bug 1268346] Re: New socket option for MySQL 5.7
In my experience, the issue with mysql_secure_installation is that it is
unfriendly at the source. There is no way to use it with non-default
configuration, or if there is, I haven't found it yet.
MySQL Sandbox does its own secure cleanup with its default installation.
It assigns a password to root and removes the anonymous users. Since you
can assign a password and a binding address during installation, I think
this matter is handles almost as well as the deficient
'mysql_secure_installation'.
In MySQL 5.7.4, the lack of anonymous users makes this procedure almost completely obsolete.
Fixing this problem (if it were possible at all) would involve too much
effort for little benefit.
