[Question #268037]: why is 3.3.8 the latest available?

New question #268037 on squid3 in Ubuntu:

Upstream is now on stable release 3.5.5.  Why is Ubuntu stuck at 3.3.8?  Even in the 3.3 series, 3.3.14 is the latest.
