Re: [Question #280701]: root access regression with 2:4.1.6+dfsg-1ubuntu2.14.04.11

Question #280701 on samba in Ubuntu changed:
https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+question/280701

    Status: Needs information => Open

CvB gave more information on the question:
The goal is to map / onto a drive in Windows. Mapping SFTP as such might
be possible, although apparently there are only closed source third-
party options for this, and enabling full read/write access to root on a
system with no root user as such, is possible, but not straightforward.
And for a local-only home system with no important data, I'm not sure
the extra bit of security adds any value.

I really appreciate the help in trying to find an alternative. Does that
mean that the root share functionality has been intentionally dropped
from Samba as a whole? I could not find any indication for that in the
manpages on www.samba.org.
