[Bug 1977491] Re: Update Samba in 22.04LTS to 4.15.7 so macOS clients can connect and transfer.

 

Thanks for reporting the bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

I don't have access to a proprietary MacOS system, so it is really hard
for me to reproduce the bug and test the patches you linked above.  I
would like to ask for you help to do that.

I've prepared a PPA with samba and the patches backported from upstream:

Can you please give it a try and report back with the results?

Also, I noticed that the second issue you mentioned (upstream bug 15022)
is fixed by an 18-commit series.  Although the patches apply cleanly
against our version of samba in Jammy, this can be a bit tricky to SRU.
I'm thinking whether it'd make sense to consider doing an MRE instead.
But let's worry about this after we verify that the patches really fix
the issue you're having.
