For each LTSP client, there are 2 epoptes-client processes running:
 * One runs as root on the thin client, and uses the certificate of the chroot, which is wrong. This is the one that shows the little green monitor thumbnails.
 * One runs as user from inside the session, and uses the certificate of the server, which is correct. This is the one that shows the user screen thumbnails.

That's why it's working once the users log in and it's not working
before login.

To fetch the server certificate, run:
sudo chroot /opt/ltsp/i386 epoptes-client -c localhost
sudo ltsp-update-image

and reboot the clients.

Title:
  can't shutdown ltsp client computers if no one is logged in on them

Status in Epoptes:

Bug description:
  After update to Epoptes v 4.4 I can't shutdown ltsp client computers
  if no one is logged in on them. In previous version of the software
  these comupters were visible in Epoptes as a green icon with an ltsp
  client name label under it, thanks to that I was able to shut them
  down remotely. Since the computers are no longer visible I'm unable to
  do so. My system is Edubuntu 11.4.
