I'm experiencing the same problem here I think.  I have an eeepc running
xubuntu with compiz enabled with an intel GMA900 integrated graphics
chip.  I just installed Hardy on it and openarena is now very buggy.
Before when I was using the i810 driver there was no problem.  Now
openarena runs very slow and eventually locks up forcing me to kill X.
After the gdm starts up again compiz no longer works.

Openarena doesn't render my graphics properly. Hardware on my Ubuntu Hardy 8.04 beta is:

Celeron 1.6
1 GB of ram
Intel 946Gz integrated chipset.
