shapes_new.py is the updated (and still in progress) module
defining topology and geometric information for reference simplices.
It will take over the functionality of shapes.py and points.py

Major changes forthcoming include:
- (0,1) for reference line rather than (-1,1)
- normals, tangents are computed based on topology rather
  than hardwired in so as to allow easier changing of
  topology if we need to change orientation/ordering of entities
