[Bug 1049307] Re: FWTS reports several HIGH failures on an server
FACP Preferred_PM_Profile type 3 is a "workstation", DMI type 1c is a
blade, so this looks like the FACP is a little bit misleading.
The FACP should be probably set to one of:
4 -Enterprise Server
5 -SOHO Server
7 - Performance Server
..but probably not 3 (workstation). This probably needs some discussion
with the BIOS vendor to see if this is really going to affect the way it
works, as the ACPI may be tuned for this profile or perhaps it is a
genuine mistake.

Title:
FWTS reports several HIGH failures on an server
Status in “fwts” package in Ubuntu:
Incomplete
Bug description:
Ran fwts as part of the certification suite on a server and noted
several HIGH level failures causing our test to fail. All of the
failures were from the dmi_decode test and I was able to manually
confirm this.
The first one is from the Chassis info (Type 3):
00018 dmi_decode FAILED [HIGH] DMIInvalidHardwareEntry: Test 1, Unmatched Chassis Type SMBIOS
00019 dmi_decode Type 3 reports 1c ACPI FACP reports 3
Here is the actual output from dmidecode:
Handle 0x0003, DMI type 3, 22 bytes
Chassis Information
Manufacturer: Acer
Type: Blade
Lock: Not Present
Version:
Serial Number:
Asset Tag:
Boot-up State: Safe
Power Supply State: Safe
Thermal State: Safe
Security Status: None
OEM Information: 0x00000000
Height: Unspecified
Number Of Power Cords: 1
Contained Elements: 0
SKU Number:
And the DTMF standard says this in section 7.4 (grokked from the fwts log advice):
1Ch Blade. An SMBIOS implementation for a Blade would contain a Type
3 Chassis structure for the individual Blade system as well as one for
the Blade Enclosure that completes the Blade system.
The rest are related to several DMIValueOutOfRange errors. I will let
you look at those via the log file.
