And language should never be associated with a flag. I'm from Canada
and I never see a Canadian flag represent English. And on other
websites, it can either be US, British or a mixture of both...
literally half of each flag.

It should really be a drop-down list that says

* English
* Français (French)
* Deutsch (German)

etc.
