[Blueprint instructions] Instructions
Blueprint changed by Lucazade:
Whiteboard changed:
EMGD 1.5.2 packaged and working :)
Compatibility:
* Maverick (kernel 2.6.35 and xorg 1.9)
* Natty (kernel 2.6.38 and xorg 1.9) .. thanks Tista for patch!
* Lucid (only old Emgd release available.. look at notes for installation tip!)
Installation:
Drivers are available in this PPA: https://launchpad.net/~gma500/+archive/emgd
I've also created a small script to automatize installation
wget dl.dropbox.com/u/1338581/emgd.sh && sudo sh ./emgd.sh
at the end of installation script it will be opened /etc/X11/xorg.conf
to modify lcd resolution if different from 1366x768
To be done/fixed:
* Build mplayer-vaapi and gnome-mplayer against libva included in Ubuntu repositories and put in PPA.
* Package xorg 1.9 in PPA (useful when Natty will switch to xorg 1.10)
Working features:
* 2D
* 3D
* Xv videoplayback (totem, skype, cheese..)
* Vaapi videoplayback (not tested in depth yet!)
* Compiz, Unity-2D
* EMGD Ui - configuration tool
Broken features:
* Brightness hotkeys (at least with acer751h, working correctly with asus1101HA)
* Suspend (needs workaround)
Known Workarounds:
* Grub, Vts and Plymouth with native resolution:
echo "GRUB_GFXMODE=1366x768" | sudo tee -a "/etc/default/grub"
echo "GRUB_GFXPAYLOAD_LINUX=keep" | sudo tee -a "/etc/default/grub"
sudo update-grub
* Suspend:
sudo mv /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/99video /usr/lib/pm-utils/99video
* Notes
- To install EMGD drivers on Lucid you this script:
+ To install EMGD drivers on Lucid use this script:
wget dl-web.dropbox.com/u/1338581/emgd/install.sh && sudo sh ./install.sh
(It will backport xorg to 1.8.x and install specific drivers for Lucid)
