That one is caused by the video driver. I get that too and has notta to
do with GnoMenu since mine is at the bottom left.

Bug description:
The icon is sometimes just a bit corrupt (as on the screenshot), sometimes it's not even there, u find only a blank area (of different colour than the panel).
