The best solution I was able to come up with is to turn on the
"protobuff" export from opennms then wrote a small daemon which receives
the protobuff packets and rewrites them in the pickle format and sends
to carbon. I'll clean up my code a bit and drop it into the source tree
somewhere if Chris and others are cool with that.
