Nicholas Leskiw proposed the following answer:
We can't help you setup a backup solution.  The graphite data
(datapoints) are by default stored as files in
/opt/graphite/storage/whisper

The django sqlitedb is in /opt/graphite/storage/graphite.db

Backup the /opt/graphite/storage/ directory however you can.
