Nicholas Leskiw proposed the following answer:
try &lineMode=connected.  This is useful if you don't get data at
regular intervals.

In composer Click [Graph Options] > [Line Mode] > [Connected] 
In dashboard, left click a graph, [Render Options] > [Line Mode] > [Connected]
