My apologies if this is not the correct place to post this. I was  looking for a lightweight zero config client to send system stats to graphite and came across libstatgrab. I didn't see it in the "Tools that work with Graphite" page.  so, figured i'd share. :)

Here's an example  one-liner (tested on BSD) to send system stats to graphite. 
 statgrab -b | sed -re "s/^/`hostname`./" -e "s/://" | awk -v "date=`date +%s`" '{print $0, date}' | nc <graphite server ip> <LINE_RECEIVER_PORT>
