Update:  with the schema `10s:30m,1m:1d,5m:2y` and aggregation method
and xFilesFactor:

agg = average, factor = 0.1 => data stored
agg = last, factor = 0.1         => data stored
agg = average, factor = 0.5 => data ignored

So xFilesFactor seems to be the important thing here.
