Message #15307
[Bug 1654068] Re: Ubuntu 16.04.02: Error message "kernel version is not supported" is logged during fadump, dump capture will be successful.
As to my understanding this is a cosmetic warning message rather than an
incompatibility, my assessment is that this should not be treated as
severity 'high' and is therefore not a candidate for an SRU.
In the event of actual incompatibilities between the 16.04 rolling
kernel and makedumpfile, we would absolutely make an exception to the
SRU process for a new upstream version as appropriate.

== Comment: #3 - Hari Krishna Bathini - 2017-01-04 07:14:19 ==
Canonical,
Please pick the latest version of makedumpfile (v1.6.1) which
officially supports 4.8 kernels.
Thanks
Hari
