Re: The future of GTG

Hello,

3) Future developments.

After that, we will attack future projects. I foresee:
- rewrite of the task editor (to solve some bugs and allow dynamic
update of the content)
- porting to GTK3
- integration with other software (including drag-n-drop)

On liblarch side:
- heavy optimisation
- maybe porting liblarch to C?

I've compiled a list of feature requests based on open bugs in launchpad. You can find it at

https://live.gnome.org/gtg/feature_requests

(it also contains my notes :-)

Also there are bugs which requires further discussion. Do we accept such features? How should it work in GTG? Many open questions:

https://code.launchpad.net/~gtg-user/gtg/notification-area-tweaks

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/558389 - allow dots in tag names or not?
https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/629128 - I am not sure if we want this

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/741454

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/341871

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/399078 - Would this be deprecated by using backends?

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/575791 - What do you think about my proposed solution?

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/343058 - This bug is still not designed how it should work

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/561092 - Should be done something in this bug or should it be closed because the time was moved to 4am?

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/516534 - What is this bug referring to? I am satisfied with the current status of due date labels.

https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/567079 - There is needed discussion what we want to do about this

Izidor
