Hi

I would like to start contributing to the GNOME project, I have been
through the GNOME Love site and I am interested in contributing to
Getting Things GNOME. If possible I would like to get involved with a
mentor who can help me with my first commits.

I was thinking about trying to tackle this:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/gtg/+bug/320589

How can I go about getting this assigned to myself?

If you have any more advice on this it would be appreciated.

Tom

Hi Tom,

sorry for late answer, I was busy this weekend. I would love to help you with your first steps in GTG.

The bug you chose should be not hard to solve if you have some experience in writing python code and/or a little bit of GTK. If not, it is still doable but you would need to study a bit first. As the first step I would suggest you to play with others plugins to see what's possible. Be sure you understand the bug and you read all the comments.

Second, write a small spec like: There should be only settings window where I can set X and Y. I want to add a button there and there. Just few sentences to clear your thoughts.

Afterwards, there will be coding :) Probably we would need to change some behavior or add a missing method into plugin API. I would like to do that.

Looking forward to your contribution,

Izidor
