Re: [Bug 1165660] Re: Errors when running Gufw - does not modify firewall settings
Unfortunately I'm not able to do the tests that you requested. Yesterday
I allowed the Ubuntu software update app to do a routine upgrade, and
after this gufw worked without a flaw. I don't know all of the
packages the were updated, but I know that one of them was a kernel
upgrade. If you would like me to do any other checks, let me know...

Subject: [Bug 1165660] Re: Errors when running Gufw - does not modify firewall settings
Hi! ufw is right. I think a Gufw dependency is break.
Please, could you try 2 steps more? :)
Step 1:
sudo ufw default deny outgoing
Try now Firefox or anything else. All must be block.
sudo ufw default allow outgoing
for restore ;)
Step2: Reinstall all Gufw dependencies:
ufw
gir1.2-gtk-3.0
gir1.2-polkit-1.0
gnome-icon-theme-symbolic
notify-osd or notification-daemon
policykit-1
python-dbus
python-gobject
python-distutils-extra
One question, please? In which Ubuntu version are you? :)

Title:
Errors when running Gufw - does not modify firewall settings
Status in Gufw:
New
Bug description:
I tried setting both incoming and outgoing to "deny". I thought the
result would be that I would not be able to browse the internet or
access anything outside my computer... I was wrong... it didn't seem
to change anything. Why doesn't this work the way I thought it would?
Well, this is what I did...
Started Gufw
made sure that status is "on" and incoming is "deny" and outgoing is "deny"
(I am assuming that this takes effect the moment it is changed...)
Then I started my browser, logged into my gmail account, clicked on the link to this page, and wrote this message.
YET, you said that with outgoing=deny I should not be able to browse
or connect to the internet. The only thing that I can think of is,
that the changes in Gufw do not take effect immediately... otherwise
why am I able to connect to the internet now?
Further to this situation... I did close gufw and then reopen it. The
settings were saved and both incoming and outgoing were still set to
"deny". I even logged off, logged back into Lubuntu and now I'm
writing this message (after verifying again that ufa setting were both
set to deny outgoing and incoming).
I now see that when I run gufw in terminal I get some errors. Here's
what it shows...
