it's actually possible to support Diaspora.

  which the user has full control and ownership of the posted data. More

  Add this moment this support means the possibility to make status
  updates to chosen aspects (friend lists) and later chat integration
  (the upstream hasn't yet implemented this feature, status at
  http://bugs.joindiaspora.com/issues/519 ).
