Message #01431
[Bug 585095] Re: Gwibber doesn't turn !tags into Identi.ca community links
Right : Hashtags # work very well on identica and twitter with search tab. But on identica, there is also an option for groups :
http://identi.ca/group
Name of group has a ! before. Example : if you subscribe to Ubuntu
group, when someone post a message with !Ubuntu, you will receive it
even if you are not following his timeline.
This part works well in Gwibber, I receive all the messages from the
groups I have joined.
But contrary to the #hashtags, !groups are not clickable links and do
not allow to do a search in identica groups.
According identi.ca support, there is no group search api end point
right now

So, question is : if a word has a "!" just before it without space between them (like !gwibber), is it possible to make it as link and redirect to :
http://identi.ca/group/gwibber
If group does not exist, this will display an error message "Not found"
If yes, it would allow to subscribe easily to a group on identica web
page.

Title:
Gwibber doesn't turn !tags into Identi.ca community links
Status in Gwibber:
Confirmed
Status in “gwibber” package in Ubuntu:
Triaged
Bug description:
Binary package hint: gwibber
PROBLEM
An inconsistency in Gwibber's formatting wherein #hashtags and
@replies are turned into links, in its display of Identi.ca streams,
but !community mentions are not.
HOW TO REPRODUCE
1. Use Gwibber to post a status update on Identi.ca which includes the !tag of a community you belong to. !aliases work for purposes of bugtesting also (Identi.ca allows community administrators to assign multiple aliases to !community names).
2. Note that while @replies and #hashtags are automatically turned into links in your Identi.ca stream, the !community name is not.
EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
Everything that would be a link on the Identi.ca web app itself will
be a link in Gwibber.
