You should look at hotot, its has a prette clever way to show multiple
columns, it will creating collumns based on window size.

here it is a screenshot from gwibber when you maximize the screen, for a
second, it show multiple columns, thats the whay it should be maximized,
maybe with diferent colors for services to easy diferenciate, but the
actual interface is capable of doing this, you just have to stop
"resizing" the main column!

  Hello,

  New Gwibber is faster and very nice. But multi-columns are missing. Do
  you plan to re-introduce the possibility to add many columns :

  One for Twitter / Identica main timeline

  One for mentions

  One for Direct Messages

  One for Facebook

  One for future Google+ for example...
