Message #00060
Discuss: Jenkins or Hudson?
Hi All
As you are probably aware, the Hudson project voted to rename itself to
Jenkins about 2 weeks ago; the community (and the key contributors)
where in support of this rename 250/40 due to the trademark licensing
constraints around Hudson and the proposed project changes that Oracle
are making.
However, Hudson still lives as an open source project; its just more
controlled by Oracle now. Some effort is being made to ensure that
plugins remain compatible
My feel is that we should follow the existing project and align
packaging work to Jenkins; the dependencies are much the same so its
mainly rename work in the old Hudson core packages. It also avoids the
trademark issue which means that this work could at some point be
contributed back to Debian.
I wanted to canvas opinion to see whether people subscribed to this list
had any opinion one way or the other.
Regards
James
