Status in Hugin - Panorama Tools GUI: Triaged
Bug description:
I use remote X fairly often and these problems only really show themselves over a slow network connection, but I think are responsible for a lot of the 'normal' hugin lack of responsiveness too:
1. Selecting a single image in the 'Crop tab' is fine, refreshing the display takes as long as you would expect. However, just selecting all the images in the list on this tab takes ages to refresh - Even though nothing changes visually except the list control itself.
2. In the 'Control Points tab' with 'Zoom fit to window', clicking on one of the images to set a point zooms that window to 1:1 to allow further positioning of the point. This update takes ages since even if the window is tiny, the entire 1:1 image is transferred over the network.
I'm using 6Megapixel images, so just one click results in 18MB of network traffic, and if I don't have 'auto estimate' selected then both images are transferred, taking about 30 seconds on a wifi connection.
Note: I'm not talking about the image cache here, the files are on the same system as hugin - This is the X overhead of creating a pan-able 1:1 image.
A solution would be to have a 'control point' mode that didn't zoom in and out all the time. The temporary workaround is to use VNC instead of remote X.
