thanks for the update.  will add it to the next tarball release.  might be 
already in the 2011.0 release cycle.

the %... things are formats, not variable names.  If I am not mistaken, %0.3f 
stands for floating point with three post-comma digits.

In the code there is something like

  printf "first variable: %0.3f second variable: %0.3f" % var1 var2

if var1= 0.123456
and var2= 3.2312

the printed result will be

first variable: 0.123 second variable: 3.231
