I just tested the "Assistant" tab of the 2010.4.0 version for Mac. It
definitely doesn't accept drag and drop. The "1. Load images..." seems
to highlight when dragging images over it but still no image is loaded.

A quick workaround could be to simply rephrase to something like this:
"Please load images by either pressing on the '1. Load images...' button
or drag your images in the file list of the 'Images' tab."

Bug description:
  On the first tab "project assistant" there is a button to load images. However it would be beneficial to have a small space allowing the user to drag and drop the images onto this tab. 

This is not a bug per se but I'd call it a UX issue :)
