I have run some further tests with default detector = CPFind + Celeste.
using same image set, and using Assistant for alignment, with preference "Remove cloud-like control points (Celeste)"
The results are much more consistent, however the actual points chosen still vary from one run to another.
This latter test does suggest that the Preferences option Assistant -> "Remove cloud-like control points (Celeste)" and CPFind as default detector does not operate correctly, or operates differently, to setting default detector as CPFind + Celeste.
