Not knowing what the other project files were, or why we were supporting them in the first place, I thought it prudent to just make the minimal change of separately filtering .pto.
If there is no objection to removing the filtering for the other project files, then I would agree that we just filter for .pto.

  Split file filter (*.pto, *.ptp, *.pts, *.oto) into several

Status in Hugin - Panorama Tools GUI:
  New

Bug description:
  *.pts file extension is used by Photivo (a RAW convertor) for its
  settings files. Hence I often have a lot of *.pts and *.pto files in
  one directory. It would be much easier to find Hugin panoramas if I
  could choose only *.pto files in the file filter in the open dialog.
  So I suggest to provide separate filters for these extensions instead
  of one filter.
