Thanks for your quick reply.

I use the latest version available on the Ubuntu Software Centre.
On http://hugin.sourceforge.net/ I see only the 2013 version.

So I tried this

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:hugin/hugin-builds
sudo apt-get update

but got the error message
  http://ppa.launchpad.net/hugin/hugin-builds/ubuntu/dists/utopic/main/binary-i386/Packages 404  Not Found


Where can I find  and download the 2014.0.0-RC4 version for Ubuntu 14.10?

Bug description:
  No automatic control points any more (it worked under Ubuntu 12). I
  now always have to add them manually, even for "obvious"  and easy
  panoramas.
