There was a similar issue earlier: https://bugs.launchpad.net/hugin/+bug/1938453
For Wayland wxWidgets and GLEW needs to be compiled with EGL support. 
But I assume this is the case here, otherwise you would get another error message before (GLViewer.cpp: SetUpContext(): Error initialising GLEW: Unknown error.)

In this case it should work also with Wayland (in this case the X server
is not used and running glxgear is unrelated.)

You could try to run Hugin with GDK_BACKEND set to X11
GDK_BACKEND=x11 hugin
to force the x11 emulation layer.

Otherwise check the graphic card driver. Not sure if you test another
driver?

Title:
  Black preview. GL Error when building mipmap levels: invalid
  framebuffer operation.

Status in Hugin:

Bug description:
  Installed hugin 204.0.1-2 via Pacman on EndeavourOS x86_64 running
  Plasma 6.2.4 via wayland. OpenGL drivers are working and glxgears runs
  with no problems.

  On starting hugin the overview and preview windows are black, making
  the program unusable. On startup the following error messages are
  displayed.
