CELEBRATIONS!

The option 
Option          "ConnectedMonitor"       "DFP-0"
did it!

vglrun glxgears
4224 frames in 5.0 seconds = 844.628 FPS
[VGL] ERROR: in readback--
[VGL]    362: Window has been deleted by window manager

Even planeshift works now.
