Hi all,
I'm willing to ruin my Ubuntu set-up testing any new developments in
switchable graphics for muxless systems so as asked on the group's main
page I'm sending my basic info below:
sudo dmidecode -s system-product-name
Dell System Vostro 3450
sudo dmidecode -s system-version
Not Specified
lspci -vnnn | perl -lne 'print if /^\d+\:.+(\[\S+\:\S+\])/' | grep VGA
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation 2nd
Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller
[8086:0116] (rev 09) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller])
01:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: ATI Technologies Inc NI
Whistler [AMD Radeon HD 6600M Series] [1002:6741] (prog-if 00 [VGA
controller])
I'm running 3.0 kernel from Ubuntu Kernel Team along with xorg-edgers
and glasen intel drivers (for this lovely Sandybridge GPU boost):
uname -a
Linux SKComp 3.0.0-7-generic #9-Ubuntu SMP Sat Jul 30 06:17:29 UTC 2011
x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux
X -version
X.Org X Server 1.10.3.902 (1.10.4 RC 2)
So far I have tested Catalyst 11.6 and 11.8 from AMD site and none of
them seems to work even when forcing it to load via a hand-made
xorg.conf (results with segfault). I'm going to try 11.7 just to be sure
that AMD didn't break anything between releases.
If I can help with anything please don't hesitate to write.
With regards,
Stanley Kardach
