Hello, everybody.I have a HP Pavilion dv6 3160us with 4250 and 5650 ATI cards. https://bugs.launchpad.net/lpbugreporter/+bug/752542/comments/354 Like Gareth told me, I tried last Catalyst driver version (11.11), but it doesn't work (hang on boot). Neither 11.7, nor 11.8, nor 11.9.
I uninstall proprietary drivers and tried to use vgaswitcheroo... the only way that I found to turn off the integrated card (4250) was to boot in recovery mode and, there, switch to discrete. But... when I reboot, I've only got a blank screen. Nothing else. I could never boot with the discrete. Only in Windows 7.
What should I do to debug it? Can anybody help me? -------- Mensaje original -------- Asunto: Re: [Hybrid-graphics-linux] ATI & ATI Fecha: Fri, 18 Nov 2011 12:53:21 -0300 De: Mario Mey <mariomey@xxxxxxxxx> Para: Gareth McCumskey <gmccumskey@xxxxxxxxx> Hey, man. Thanks for the response. I just tried 11.11 drivers... but it's the same (some Ubuntu booting text on black background when booting, no X). I reported here: http://ati.cchtml.com/show_bug.cgi?id=334 Cheers. El 18/11/11 10:21, Gareth McCumskey escribió:
Maybe give the new 11.11 drivers a try. I nearly got it working for my Intel/ATi setup, but it seems it would work beautifully on an ATi/ATi setup so that may just solve your problems. I have a HP dv6 3160us, with two ATI cards: 4250 and 5650 (not ATI/intel). I was reading the blog a bit, and I didn't find this kind of hybrid card. I've been using Catalyst 11.7 and kernel 2.6.38-11-generic (Ubuntu 11.4), only using the 4250, because this is the best way to work. I tried 11.8 and 11.9, but had differents and non-functionals results with switching: 11.8: it seemed that can switch between cards, but with the supposed discrete, full-screen 3d application (Blender) was impossible to work with (I think that never boot with 5650, but 4250 thinking it was the 5650). With 4250, it had flickering and visual noise problems. Impossible to use it. 11.9: Only 4250 with the same visual problems. This computer has no option in BIOS to turn off the "basic" card. Could you tell me if someone of the team has a similar or the same computer as mine? Could you guide me to test the switching? Thank you very much.
