  bugs with alt-text in js-reader

Bug description:
  In "entanglement", there are inconsistencies between the way the story
  plays in the java reader and the js reader. For example, if you follow
  this sequence:

  begin
  current situation
  play dead
  ithurtsithurtsithurts
  resolve this by yourself
  wait to find out more

  in the java reader, the links at the bottom read "scream", but in the
  js reader, they read "xxxxxx". Also, the main text in the node is
  slightly different between the two versions.

  Then, if I click the "restart" button, and follow the same sequence,
  in the js reader the second time round after clicking "play dead", the
  resulting node has slightly different text than the first time, and
  the "ithurtsithurtsithurts" link is shown as "xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".
