A bit cheating, but you can install qt 4.4.0 by enabling hardy-backports
(see

and https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UbuntuBackports) and uninstalling
the qt version you downloaded. I will try to release the next version
also for Hardy, shouldn't be too hard actually.
