Major PHP 5.3 Changes - Testers Needed
Hello all,
Generally with a new branch (php52 -> php53) we would take the opportunity to make any large updates to the package, some that might have adverse upgrade effects. That said, we did not do this with our php53 packages initially (mainly because its release fell right in the mix of trying to get the project underway). Because PHP 5.3 is still relatively new, and will be with us a long time I didn't want this to hold back making changes that would overall benefit the package. That said we've ported all possible changes from Fedora 12 to our php53 packages in an attempt to bring our set inline with the rest of the community using PHP 5.3.
Normal testing is 2 weeks before updates are pushed to stable. That said, I forsee this update going 4 weeks *unless* there is sufficient feedback from the community that testing is OK. There are a number of features added to this set but also potentially incompatible changes such as moving some modules from -common to -xyz sub package. Upgrading may break things which is why I am posting this request, and will post more before php53 goes to stable.
That said, any and all testing is very much appreciated... even if it is just upgrading from php53-5.3.1-1.ius to php53-5.3.1-2.ius. We will be tracking changes here:

Please let us know if you have any questions.
