Re: system PCRE vs PHP bundled PCRE

Without a specific reason, we will continue to use the system PCRE on EL7. If a specific problem with the system library is found in the future, we can easily change via the with_system_pcre macro.

Subject: Re: [Ius-community] system PCRE vs PHP bundled PCRE

Eventually the system PCRE will start to show its age. Given that the purpose of IUS is to provide new packages from an upstream source, I don't see why to favor the system PCRE over the bundled PCRE given upsteam PHP is keeping it up to date.

Previous versions of IUS PHP RPMs have used the bundled PCRE (https://github.com/iuscommunity-pkg/php56u/pull/1) instead of the system PCRE.

Why was el7 switched to use the system PCRE instead of the bundled PCRE?
