Here's a runtime example. It's possible this was an oversight as RH
provided readline support as a separate package in el5.

[root@mamori ~]# php -a
Interactive shell

php > print_r(readline_list_history());
PHP Fatal error:  Call to undefined function readline_list_history() in php shell code on line 1
