Python 2.7 packages have been created and are currently in IUS
Development channels:

 # yum install python27 --enablerepo=ius-dev

  RPM for python 2.7

Bug description:
  Hi,

  This isn't really a bug but a request. I'm working on a deployment to
  a RHEL 6 machine on the rackspace cloud and I asked them about getting
  a RPM for python 2.7 they mentioned that while they didn't have one
  there may be some interest in this community in building one. If that
  is the case we'd of course be willing to help in any way we can.
