Message #02569
[Bug 1170439] Re: varnish30
Hey Mark,
Thanks for contacting us regarding this request. IUS has a different
purpose than EPEL. EPEL provides only packages not provided by RHEL,
while IUS provides only new versions of packages provided by RHEL. See
the following FAQs:
http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/EPEL/FAQ#How_is_EPEL_different_from_other_third_party_repositories_for_RHEL_and_derivatives.3F
http://iuscommunity.org/pages/FAQs.html?highlight=epel#what-is-it-not
Unfortunately, varnish would not be a good fit for IUS.

Title:
varnish30
Status in IUS Community Project:
Won't Fix
Bug description:
EPEL 5 has varnish 2.0 .
EPEL 6 has varnish 2.1 .
Since EPEL can't break backwards compatibility, they'll remain on that
version. The EPEL maintainer has a newer version in git
(http://pkgs.fedoraproject.org/cgit/varnish.git/), I've modified it to
work with the yum replace plugin.
